We have been given the gift of time with this quarantine. Since the 1980’s when a fat Filofax and a full diary became the way of life, we have complained that we were time poor. We wore this fact as a badge of honour. This was especially difficult for us introverts that need time to reboot after being social but now is our time to reboot, think and regroup.
Open Learn – from the Open University has over 1000 free short courses. You can study a variety of subjects from languages, the environment to actually how to study if you are thinking of going back to school and making your brain even bigger.
Open Culture – there are so many things on this site I don’t know where to begin. They have audiobooks, ebooks, online courses, films and my favourite downloadable colouring books from 113 museums. Colouring has been proven to help lower stress levels so it is a win/win.
National Theatre – via YouTube, every Thursday they will put up a full length play for your viewing pleasure. This week’s play (2nd April) is One Man, Two Guvnors starring James Cordon.
Shakespeare’s Globe – again via YouTube, watch Hamlet with Michele Terry in the lead role. Feel your brain sharpening while watching from your front room.
For some lighter reading – you can access magazines for free – yes get your Vogue fix without spending a penny. RB Digital is a great resource end when we are not staying in. They have ebooks, audiobooks and magazine all you need is a local library card which you can get online as well. Fabulous, eh?
